- Adur and Worthing Councils are signed up to the national Mental Health Challenge programme which has been developed by a number of mental health organisations, including MIND, the Mental Health Foundation and several others.
- The aim of signing up to the Mental Health Challenge is to show how Adur and Worthing are actively promoting mental well-being in the community and helping to improve the lives of people with mental health conditions.
- The Mental Health Challenge includes the commitment by the Councils work towards the ‘Time to Change employers pledge’.

- A helpful resource which includes support for young people, their families and adults.
- Provides a comprehensive list of Organisations, Training and Resources.
Adur and Worthing Well-being Hub
- Adur and Worthing Well-being Hub can help you to find local well-being information and services.
- You can also get support for things like getting your family fitter, doing some regular exercise, dealing with stress, kicking a habit, or simply improving your general well-being.
Going Local
- Going Local can help you understand your problems and find a way forward, using help already available in the local community.
- It's a different way of looking at challenges that life presents which can't be totally solved with a traditional prescription - for example, you may be feeling anxious or depressed about your housing situation or are not sleeping due to a recent bereavement or money worries.
- As a resident, you can be referred to Going Local via your GP surgery.
- A Community Referrer on the Going Local team will then help you unpick your worries and connect you to people who can help.
- This might be to a specialist housing advisor, to budgeting and money-advice charities or to groups that you may lift your spirits.
The previous resources are available to all ages, however the following options are specifically suited to children and young people.
Youth Emotional Support Service (YES)
- YES is a free service for young people aged 11-18 looking for support with their well-being. You must be referred to YES by a doctor if you are under 18.
- You can discuss your referral with their team and they will help decide what would be the most appropriate support for you.
FindItOut Centres
- Adur & Worthing FindItOut Centres can give you information on a number of different topics. These stem around key components of day to day life, from careers advice and educational guidance, to key advice on the concept of family and relationships.
- The Centres also offer health advice, informative help on housing issues, as well as advice on legal assistance and the relevant steps to take if you have been involved in a crime.
- Guidance on personal finance and the benefits you may be entitled to are also a key faction of the work they carry out, as financial strains and burdens often lead to a decline in mental well-being.
My Wellbeing and Safety Plans
- Plans for young people to complete alongside an adult to protect their wellbeing.
- Plans provided for children with both mild to moderate emerging well being needs, as well as more complex needs.
